Enecell's Key Projects: Transforming the Desert with Photovoltaics
"The desert is solitary, and the smoke is straight; the long river is setting, and the sun is round."
"The desert sand is like snow; the moon in Yanshan is like a hook."
The desert in the eyes of ancient Chinese and today's desert:
"The Gobi becomes a vast sea; photovoltaics build an oasis."
"Yellow sand produces green electricity, and the desert has a new look."
During the "14th Five-Year Plan," China has repeatedly emphasized the need to accelerate the construction of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases in deserts, Gobi, and desert areas. The Ningxia Tengger Desert New Energy Base Project is a key supporting project of the "Ningdian into Hunan" project, China's first ultra-high voltage transmission channel that focuses on developing large desert photovoltaic bases and transmitting new energy. It is also China's earliest registered and started "Shagohuang" base project, with a planned total installed capacity of 13 million kilowatts of new energy, carrying the important mission of energy transformation and achieving the "dual carbon" goal. The first phase of the project was completed and connected to the grid in 2023, providing an average of 1.8 billion kWh of clean electricity per year, which can meet the annual electricity consumption of 1.5 million households.
In 2024, the second phase of the 233 MW photovoltaic composite project of the "Ningdian into Hunan" supporting new energy base broke ground in the southeast of the Tengger Desert. Enecell New Energy Co., Ltd. and China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group jointly started the desert green electricity journey. The project is currently carrying out basic construction.

The Tengger Desert is 240 kilometers long from north to south and 160 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of about 43,000 square kilometers. It is the fourth largest desert in China, with rich light and heat resources and an annual sunshine time of up to 3,181 hours. The second phase of the new energy base project is a typical aeolian sand land. It will build a 233 MW photovoltaic project, covering an area of about 60,000 mu, equivalent to the size of 5,600 football fields, and will be equipped with 2 booster stations and 1 energy storage power station. After the project is completed and connected to the grid, it can generate 3.96 billion kWh of electricity per year, save 1.207 million tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 3.2938 million tons, which is of great significance in promoting the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy system.
Use light to control sand and get electricity from the sun. With the acceleration of the construction of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases in deserts, Gobi, and desert areas, the Tengger Desert is gradually emerging as a "photovoltaic sea." However, behind its superior wind and light resource conditions, there are also harsh environmental influences such as floating dust, thunderstorms, sandstorms, hot summers, and severe winters, which bring many challenges to the planning and construction of photovoltaic projects.

Enecell New Energy customizes photovoltaic solutions for the special scenarios of "Sand and Desert," fully considers the terrain and sand flow points, designs the project in sections, creates high pile foundation support points, lays the foundation for the subsequent integration of "photovoltaic + industry," and increases the investment in construction personnel and machinery and equipment at the project site to optimize the construction plan. The summer is hot, but the current situation of foundation construction is in full swing.

As the first "Shagohuang" new energy base in the country, the project has explored a new path of "new energy construction + Shagohuang ecosystem protection and restoration," marking new achievements in my country's new energy system construction. Enecell New Energy will continue to anchor the "smart + dual carbon" medium- and long-term development strategy, resonate with national development, and contribute to the construction of an important strategic base for "West-to-East Power Transmission" and the high-quality development of the national economy and society with a more sophisticated team, more advanced technology, more advanced products and equipment, and more abundant production capacity output.
